Ectopic tooth in maxillary sinus

Clinical presentation

Chronic headache since 3 months

CT paranasal sinuses

 

Findings

In the absence of a maxillary oroantral fistula, a small ectopic tooth is seen lying in left maxillary antrum. polypoidal mucosal thickening seen in bilateral maxillary sinuses.

Discussion

The giveway to the nature of the highly dense lesion in the maxillary sinus is the morphology that matches a tooth with the hyperdense crown and a lesser but bone dense body.
